This course may be taken à la carte or as part of the Lewis Center Church Leadership Certificate | Hybrid course — Self-paced plus scheduled Zoom sessions
The goal of this course is to strengthen and refine the skills needed for day-to-day ministry so that individuals can increase their capacity for more meaningful pastoral ministry. Course participants will learn how to better manage their time, enhance their volunteer recruitment and retention, and better manage staff. What is more, participants will also learn how to lead better meetings and delegate more tasks so that the congregation is empowered to lead.
About the course
Like others courses in the Lewis Center Church Leadership Certificate Program, this course is entirely online and takes place over six weeks. It involves six self-paced learning modules, where participants will complete a set of readings and assignments within a specific time frame, and three synchronous learning Zoom sessions, where participants will join the instructor and others in the course for a live discussion. The synchronous Zoom session are 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursdays December 12, January 9, and January 23.
The assigned textbook for this course is Dr. Ann A. Michel's Synergy: A Leadership Guide for Church Staff & Volunteers. Please secure your copy prior to the beginning of the course, an outline of which is as follows:
